It all begins with an Idea
Deb is a self-taught seamstress who has been sewing for over 45 years, providing her services to the Melrose community and acting as head seamstress for the Melrose Youth Ballet. Her expert skills range from making curtains, cushions, bags, surgical caps, pillows and anything that can be made with a needle and thread. She frequently receives requests for zipper mending and hemming from her friends. Memory Bears, Blankets and Pillows are her among her favorite projects because it allows her to use her skills to make something from the belongings of a loved one that will provide comfort to those who are grieving. Deb also enjoys passing on her love of sewing, offering lessons to kids and adults alike.
In 2021, she started Deb's Sewing Table selling lovely hand-made wallets and bags at fairs, while still providing alterations, tailoring, and repairs, as well as offering her specialty service of creating Memory Bears, Blankets and Pillows.
During the outbreak of COVID-19, demand shifted from alterations to desperately needed PPE and face masks. Deb, her daughter, and local volunteers went to work, spending hours sewing over 1,000 surgical caps and over 6,000 facemasks for our healthcare workers.

In 2024, Deb decided to expand her business, now working full-time to create a wide-range of beautiful, well-crafted handmade products, provide sewing lessons, as well as remaining the “go to” seamstress for alterations, tailoring, and clothes repair. She plans to expand her product line in the coming months so visit the site frequently to see what’s new!
“Sewing brings peace and joy to my life. Raising a family and being available to them has been possible through sewing. I decided to launch my business selling products that I enjoy making so that I can continue to enjoy what life has to offer.”
